I was born and raised in the Netherlands and moved to Canada a long time ago. I travel back and forth quite a bit and love the differences between European and North American lifestyles, work, and foods. I was passionate about soccer / football and that switched to volleyball as I became a pretty tall dude. My academics focused around economics and business for some reason and that took me in the career direction as a business / quality / systems analyst, then project manager, and finally management consultant and business architect. I started several IT consulting companies with friends and trusted colleagues to solve clients' bigger problems and I now focus on ventures and areas where I feel that I have tremendous value to offer.

With over 25 years of experience in the financial and public sector regulatory space, I have cultivated a deep passion for environmental sustainability. Throughout my career, I have focused on developing expertise in solutions that measure and mitigate both the ecological and financial impacts faced by businesses and individuals. As the leader of Exemplary Solutions Group, my team and I harness this experience to deliver comprehensive Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies.
Our company mission, aptly reflected in the acronym "ESG," underscores our commitment to excellence and sustaining our environment. We guide clients on their sustainability journey through innovative frameworks and best-in-class practices, setting new benchmarks in building and facilities' GHG emission monitoring, building automation data, operational reporting, and regulatory compliance and filings. Additionally, we provide expert support in securing grants and subsidies, selecting offsets and ensuring that our clients are well-positioned to achieve—and exceed—their sustainability goals, all in pursuit of a shared vision for a sustainable future.
Years of hands-on experience in managing programs and projects have given me a deep appreciation for the critical role governance plays in the successful implementation of new processes and technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. These innovations must be carefully introduced and controlled to ensure that both individuals and businesses remain aligned, accountable, and on track. In our BOOK ON GOVERNANCE, like-minded professionals, thought leaders, and contributors share their insights and expertise, offering valuable perspectives on governance in the modern era.

Many of the most impactful advancements in IT and business have come through the "Gift of Agile." My experience, marked by both successes and challenges in implementing Agile transformations, has fueled a passion for helping clients and customers fully capitalize on Agile methodologies. By focusing on refining techniques and strategies, I aim to improve their outcomes and drive success through what I call better TORQUE—a force that keeps their Agile efforts moving forward efficiently and effectively.
Over the past few years, I’ve developed a deep interest in Case Management—its tools, products, and the people behind them. My focus has been on creating better solutions and leveraging data to drive improved outcomes. To explore and share these insights, I launched a site dedicated to capturing my ideas and experiences, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the development of superior products, smoother project execution, and significantly enhanced results.
What started with the warm Caribbean waters has now evolved into a quest to master the art of diving, one cold Georgian Bay plunge at a time. Certified where the water's warm and the vibes are easy, I’ve since traded palm trees for pines as I juggle the endless gadgets and dive computers that seem determined to outsmart me. Next up on this aquatic journey: tackling the waters of Netherlands and the Mediterranean. The adventure continues – as long as my fins can keep up!
Our family’s remote island in Northern Canada is not just a getaway—it’s a timeless retreat. While it’s admittedly too far for regular weekend trips, the journey to this secluded paradise is worth every minute. Surrounded by classic Canadian wilderness, the island offers ultimate privacy, where the only sounds are the whisper of the wind through the trees and the crackle of the woodstove fire. For us, this slice of wilderness is more than just a retreat; it’s a cherished tradition and a haven from the hustle and bustle of city life. Maintaining the island isn’t just about work—it’s about preserving a piece of the classic Canadian spirit for generations to come.
From cozy street stalls to Michelin-starred fine dining, my journey through food has been as diverse as my travels. Whether it’s sharing a spicy bowl of noodles with colleagues or savouring delicately shaved truffles over risotto, I’m always in search of new culinary adventures. Exploring the widest range of street, comfort, and international cuisine allows me to embrace the creativity and passion of cooks and chefs who put their heart into every dish. I believe that great food tells a story—one of culture, community, and craftsmanship—and I make it a point to share these experiences with others.
My love affair with BMW M cars began with a drive in a 2004 M3 Coupe—an experience so intoxicating it forever changed the way I view driving. This wasn't just a fast car; it was a precision-engineered sports machine that demanded skill and rewarded with pure, unfiltered driving pleasure. But with precision comes the M's tight tolerances which meant a lot of maintenance, which quickly turned me into an amateur mechanic. From dismantling engines and transmissions to rebuilding differentials and suspensions, I’ve learned that owning a real M car (not the "M line" - inside joke) is as much about care as it is about performance.
